The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office
(HCSO) provides law enforcement, detention, and 9-1-1 dispatch
service for the more than 700,000 residents of unincorporated
Hillsborough County, Florida. The agency is responsible for
a jurisdiction of over 900 square miles, and is ranked the
ninth largest suburban county law enforcement agency in the
nation. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office operates
on an annual budget of more than $300 million and employs
more than 3,400 people, including more than 1170 sworn law
enforcement deputies and 970 detention deputies. The HCSO
conducts police operations from a Sheriff's Operation Center,
four uniformed Patrol districts and twenty-seven Community
Stations located throughout the entire county.
Additionally, the Sheriff's Office
is responsible for operating and staffing two jails and a
work release center which maintain an average population of
more than 4,600 prisoners on any given day. The Sheriff's
Office is also responsible for the security of the Hillsborough
County Courts, and service of criminal warrants and civil
process issued by Hillsborough County Courts. As a result
of the close proximity of HCSO Community Stations and a highly
visible patrol presence, the HCSO maintains continuous professional
and personal relationships within the communities it serves.
This personal contact is a critical cornerstone to the HCSO
Community Policing philosophy, and is an essential value in
fulfilling its Mission. |
